An Autumn Day in Luxembourg City

Here are some ideas for how to spend a day exploring Luxembourg City in gorgeous autumn. You can pick just one or combine them for an ultimate day in the city. Happy exploring!

The Wenzel Circular Walk 

This beautiful scenic walk will guide you through Luxembourg while also exposing you to some great history! During this walk you will come across the oldest quarters of Luxembourg City as well as the fortress works which were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1994.

During this walk, you will discover, among many others, the Bock promontory (the cradle of the city); the castle bridge which was built in 1735, as well as the Corniche, also known as the “most beautiful balcony in Europe”.

Chocolate House

Nothing makes a fall day like a warm cup of hot chocolate! Stop by the Chocolate House, and enjoy a delicious cup of hot chocolate and a tasty pastry while taking in a view of the Royal Palace,.

Location: 20 Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg District, Luxembourg  Hours: Monday- Friday 8am- 8pm, Saturday 9am- 8pm and Sunday 10am- 8pm 

Seasonal Markets in Luxembourg City 

Held twice-weekly in the very heart of the city on Place Émile Hamilius, the Staater Maart has something for everyone: regional, seasonal and organic products, flowers and plants, fruits and vegetables, fish, meat, baked goods, roast chicken, pasta, cheeses, and all kinds of other artisanal products.

There are tons of other markets around the city depending on the day you’re visiting. You can find the full list and details here.

Hours & Location: Every Wednesday and Saturday from 7:30am–2pm in Place Emile Hamilius and adjoining streets

Catch a movie

Cinémathèque is an amazing movie theatre that promotes and preserves film heritage! It also has a screening room called Place du Théâtre, where they host special events such as film conferences, round tables, public youth projects, senior activities, film concerts, and festivals!
