Luxembourg’s Playgrounds
City Limits – in the heart of the city
City Centre
There is a small playground in the City Centre which is a perfect intermission from a fast paced day in the city. The playground may be small, but mighty as people of all ages seem to gravitate towards the top of the climbing pole.
• Where: Rue Beaumont, Luxembourg
Pirate Ship Park (currently under construction))
Ahoy! Who doesn’t love a pirate ship? This playground seems to be a fan favorite among the kids of Luxembourg. Pirate Ship Park has a shipwreck in the center of the playground which is perfect for young explorers! They can climb on it, hide in it, ring the bell, and do so much more with their imagination.
With wooden hippos, dolphins, and tortoises to climb on, this park makes a splash with its water theme. On a hot summer day, take your kid to cool off at one of the water sprinklers! Kids can play with the sprinkler using locks to change the waterflow, so it is sure to keep them entertained.
For older visitors, the 6 meter climbing wall is the perfect challenge. Once you celebrate at the top, there is a thrilling slide back down to earth. Don’t forget to bring your scooters and bikes to zoom around the park paths. From May to October, there is a Pavillion that serves drinks and ice cream.

Parc Merl
This park has it all, from a fish and duck pond to sandpits and a plethora of equipment! This park is perfect for visitors of all ages as it includes swings, seesaws, wobblies, climbing frames, slides and a zip line! This park is an amazing gem in the city, whether you want to relax by the pond or take a daring swing on the zip line.
From July through mid-September there are free trampolines (for adults too!) which are supervised and all participants must wear socks. This park is super open, so it is perfect for a picnic or for a larger playdate!

City Outskirts – at the edge of the city
Parc Kaltreis, Bonnevoie
Are your future astronauts ready for take-off? This space themed playground is out of this world! At the center of the playground is a rocketship which your kids can slide in and out. There is fun for all ages at this park as it houses an outdoor fitness space, ping pong table, chess, a bowling alley and much more. If you go during the springtime, you may be lucky enough to catch the tadpoles and frogs in the pond!
• Where: 60 Boulevard Kaltreis, 1881 Luxembourg. Plenty of street parking available.
Castle Park, Belair
Do your kids love playing knights, princesses, or princes? They will LOVE this castle themed playground in Belair. This is a super impressive playground with a large castle at the center complete with passageways, bridges, ropes, ladders and slides (warning: it’s a tight squeeze for adults to fit through the castle so rescuing stuck little ones can be … challenging!). Your kids should be on the lookout for the castle mice, chickens, knights, King & Queen, kitchen and even a prison.

Parc Tony Neuman, Limpertsberg
This quaint park in the suburb of Limpertsberg is perfect for an afternoon of play. The playground features swings, slides, a sandpit, and a climbing frame, but don’t miss their many paths for scootering and biking. You can also take a stroll in their beautiful flower trail or stumble upon the park’s pond. There are picnic tables and restrooms further in the park.

Strassen Playground
This spacious park is perfect for you and your family to ride along trails or lay out a picnic! Take in the scenery at one of the gazebos that are also perfect for rainy weather. The playground at this park features equipment for all ages and abilities, in addition to a sandpit and a pond. When the weather gets warmer, the cottage at the center of the park sells drinks and ice cream. There are also clean restrooms at the cottage.
• Where: between Rue Henri Dunant and Rue des Romains, Strassen. You can park on the roads around the park, or at the little on road carpark by the Henri Dunant entrance.
Cessange Playground
You’ve probably noticed that almost every Commune in Luxembourg features an incredible playground. The Cessange playground is no exception. The playground features climbing towers, tunnels and other typical playground equipment. If you are looking for a scenic walk, Cessange also has a lovely park along the river.
• Where: the playground is just behind 223 Rue de Cessange, Cessange. Park can be accessed from roads around it.
Tony Neuman Park
This park has plenty for adults and kids alike. The kids can go wild on swings, slides and all the usual playground goodness. You can all enjoy some beautiful sculptures made by local Luxembourgish artists, along with lots of flowers, shady trees . You can also take a nice stroll on the Roses Circular Trail.

Howald Playground
The Howald Commune playground is fit with all of the usual playground paraphernalia and more! The playground includes sections of varying elevations that are fun to explore. There are various textures and colors that stimulate children’s imagination. There is also a small football field at this park.
• Where: Just after the Aral petrol station, to the left, on Avenue Grand-Duc Jean, Howald
Farm Park, Gasperich Playground
Your kids are bound to fall in love with this farm themed playground. In the center is a barn complete with a huge barn door, bridges, ropes, slides, muddy pig sty, tractor, horse and cart, cows and more. Even if your child is only barely walking, there is so much to take in and see at this playground. Your children may have a newfound interest in agriculture after visiting this park!
• Where: You can park on the roads around the playground (you must pay to park on weekdays). Look at the end of Rue d’Allemont, at the end of Rue Jean Pierre Koltz or Rue Abbe Francois Lascombes.

Airport Park, Cents Playground
If your child loves the themed parks similar to Castle Park and Farm Park, wait until they see Airport Park. This park will have your kids reaching for the sky as the theme is airplanes and helicopters. Get your kid excited to see the world at this airport fit with check in, baggage trolleys, airplanes, departures, and arrivals. Your child will be inspired by the real planes from LUX flying overhead!
• Where: you can park on the roads around the playground (you must pay to park on weekdays). The playground is on Op der Heed which is a residential cul-de-sac so parking is limited.
Parc Bambesch
This playground in the forest is sure to charm you and your children. It is another fan favorite with wooden decor and equipment to blend into the natural environment. There is a wide variety of equipment at this playground such as sandpits, little wooden houses, pretend castles, roundabouts, huge slides for the older ones, zip line, and things that balance and wobble. Although the playground is in the forest, there are open areas where you can catch some rays. It is the perfect location to take a day in nature whether it be a picnic, walk in the woods, or just a playdate at the playground. There are restrooms by the tennis club, and nearby a cafe to grab a coffee.

Further Afield
Mondorf Le Bain
There are 2 playgrounds in Mondorf Le Bain that we love to visit.
The first playground is in front of the Chalet am Brill Restaurant where the park includes seesaws, swings, slides and plenty of climbing. It is a great playground for little ones with an excellent location for parking, restrooms, nibbles, or even an ice cream. During the warmer months the restaurant has a chill outdoor dining area to look after your energetic child while enjoying a bite. You can also ride around on your bike or scooter here!
• Where: Avenue Marie-Adelaide, Mondorf-les-Bains
The other playground is around the corner from the first, on the lovely grounds of Mondorf le Bain spa. This small playground includes a tire, swings, and a small sandpit. This park may not be extraordinary as it is quite small, but the location at the botanical gardens is quaint and beautiful. There is definitely space for a picnic in the park and circling around on bikes and scooters. Don’t miss the mini maze and mini bridges over older trees. In addition, there are two cafes near the park, Maus Katti Bistro and La Roseraie, which are great for filling up on drinks and ice cream.
• Where: Park in the (free) Mondorf Domain Thermal spa car park and walk through the grounds heading towards the Aviation Museum.
Mersch
If you’re looking for a nearby playground but don’t have a car, this playground in Mersch is less than 10 minutes from the train and bus station. The park has a viewing tower that overlooks the gorgeous lake filled with ducks and fish. This park is perfect for your little ones and older kids. There is a designated play area which is fenced off for toddlers and small children. The fenced area includes small slides, swings, etc and is perfect for monitoring your child. Older kids can be occupied by the balance logs, tyre swings and a football pitch with goals and swings. There are also restrooms and a cafe next to the lake open seasonally.
• Where: Rue Duchesse Charlotte and rue Jean Majerus, Mersch. Park in the car park next to the tennis courts, walk along the path next to the river and cross over the bridge to the park.
Grevenmacher
You can make a day out of the Grevenmacher park! Pack a picnic and enjoy a lunch at the benches followed by a lovely stroll on the river. You can park your car for free near the playground. The playground is fit for all ages with small swings for toddlers and climbing walls for older children. The kids will also be entertained by the ducks in the river and can be easily occupied with a bike or scooter along the paths. There are toilets in the nearby swimming pool or at the Butterfly Garden. Both are happy to let you use their facilities – especially if you buy an ice cream!

Echternach
We have all heard of the tourist trail and visited the Echternach town centre, but do not neglect the stunning lake that surrounds the outside of Echternach. Walk around the lake for about 400 meters to stumble upon the playground with equipment sure to keep your little one entertained. Soak in the sun or lay a picnic in the shade of the forest with a good book while your kids run free. This playground has a toilet so there is no need to squat in the woods. Keep in mind that the Youth Hostel has reasonable meals, ice creams, and drinks if you need an intermission during all the play! And don’t forget the trampoline park for kids at the hostel during the summer (you do have to pay).
• Where: Â Chemin vers Rodenhof, L-6487 Echternach . You can park by the Youth Hostel for free and then just walk round to the playground.
Rodange
Want to be enchanted? Fall into a fantasy at the Rodange playground with friendly wooden witches and dragons. This park has the usual playground equipment your kids know and love. Your child will expand their imagination while releasing all of their pent up energy.

Esch-sur-Alzette
This park has everything you need for a day away in nature. You’ll find 2 playgrounds, plenty of room for a picnic or game of football. At the animal park (which is free and always open) you can discover 150 animals.

Rumelange
The playground “L’Aventure de la Mine” is right next to the mining museum and, as you can already guess, it’s designed in the style of the former iron ore mining. The place is fenced so you can easily watch your children play.
